Mangalore, Aug 12: A huge branch of a tree uprooted and fell on high tension (HT) wires, collapsing two electric poles down in front of St Theresa’s School at lower Bendur on August 12, Tuesday evening.
The traffic ASI Rosamma, rushed to the spot immediately took swift action by placing barricades for the two-way route lane connecting Bendoorwell junction.
ASI also said that the HT wires came very close to the ground level suspending electricity in air and posing danger to the passerby. Due to the incident traffic was stranded for half-an-hour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mescom official said the after knowing about the incident the department acted fast and cleared the uprooted poles. The department will install new poles by10 pm, he added.
The locals said that the tree branch as not uprooted due to rain and high wind, but shows that tree was very old.
