Kalmady, August 16: Udupi Diocese Bishop Dr. Jerald Isaac Lobo said that, India is bound by many problems and hence it requires to be freed, to achieve the true Independence.
He was speaking during the annual feast celebrations of Stella Mary’s Church Kalmady, Udupi, on August 15, Friday.
Bishop also said that, although our country got the freedom from the British, various problems like terrorism, internal clashes, poverty, unemployment and many such issues have shackled the country. The true meaning of Independence is gained, when the country is free from all these problems.
Bishop Dr. Jerald Isaac Lobo also stated that Mother Mary is blessed with the special nature of understanding the problems of others and helping them. Further human beings must also adopt the nature of Mother Mary, he added.
Udupi District In charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, released the parish news magazine “Daryasukur” during the parish feast celebrations.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj visited the Church and offered prayers.
Later, Bishop felicitated the donors who contributed for the annual celebrations of the Kalmady Parish feast.
Diocese vice chancellor Rev Valerian Mendonsa, Udupi Zonal Bishop Rev Fedrick Mascarhenhas, Kalmady Church priest Rev Alban D’Souza, Uzwad paper editor Rev Chethan Lobo, office bearers of Church management Luis Lobo, Lancy Fernandes, Flavia, Sanjay, ICYM president Alvin Fernandes were present.
