Boat capsizes near Mukka- Two fishermen scared drowned

Mangalore, August 26: On Monday August 25th, two fishermen were feared drowned since their country boat capsized about 500 metres off the coast of Mukka.

It gathered that on Monday morning, seven persons namely Chandra, Ritesh, Anand, Anil, Manoj Suvarna, Tejpal and Madhukar went fishing in the country boat belonging to Manoj.

 On their way back in the evening, the boat got stuck in a firth about 500 metres off the shore and capsized. Of the seven, four managed to swim to safety while Madhukar (38) and Tejpal (22) were pulled in by the waves.The co-fishermen raised an alarm and Suratkal cops along with coast guard personnel began to look for for the missing persons.

Locals revealed that Madhukar was an expert swimmer and used to go on deep fishing at Panambur. He got married three years ago and is the only son of his parents. He has three sisters.

Both Madhukar and Tejpal are residents of Sasihitlu.

Operations are being carried out in order to search the missing persons. Also the locals offered prayers for their safety.

Suratkal Cops and the Officials of Fishery Department have visited the spot.
