Moodbidri, September 1: Lecturer of a PU college Ms Vanishree K S (25) of commerce department committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling of her rented room in Gandhinagar here on Saturday August 30th. It is learnt that she had been distracted since a past few days after her fiancé ended his life.
She was the only daughter of Krishnaraj, who is an agriculturist in Alangar near Kadaba of Puttur taluk, had been appointed as lecturer in Alva’s PU College two months ago. She stayed as paying guest in Rose Doll Apartment in Gandhinagar, along with three girl students. As two of her roommates had left to their native places on account of Vinayaka Chaturthi festival, Vanishree and a student stayed in the rented accommodation for the time being.
It is gathered that Vanishree, citing a reason of ill health after getting permission from the concerned; returned to her room early on Saturday from college. When her roommate returned home at around 4 pm and tried to open the door, she found that the door had been bolted from inside. She called out Vanishree’s name besides calling her cell phone number, but there was no response. The efforts made by neighbours to open the door too failed.
After the policemen were informed about this incident, they came to the spot and forced the door open with the help of some locals at around 6 pm. They found Vanishree hanging from the end of her sari that had been tied to the ceiling fan.
Vanishree has mentoned in her death note that her fiancé, Suprasanna had expired a few days ago and being unable to live without him, she had decided to die. She has also requested to cremiate her body at the spot where her fiance’s body was cremiated. Although she has mentioned the cell phone number of her father at the end of this note, the policemen are yet to gather the details of Suprasanna.
