Former Deputy Chief Minister, R. Ashok defended the former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and launched a verbal attack on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleging that he was indulging in politics of hatred against Mr Shettar.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr.Ashok alleged that the entire case related to Murugharajendra swami of Bruhan math of Chitradurga has been fabricated by the Chief Minister who wants to frame Mr Shettar in retaliation against his charges on Arkavathy denotification issue.

He defended Mr Shettar saying that he had no role to play in the sale of the math’s land and that it was a decision taken by the cabinet. He alleged Mr Siddaramaiah is trying to demoralise Mr Shettar by using the issue and blamed the former for arranging press conferences by giving documents.

He alleged that the government is in a deep slumber despite being openly criticised by its own legislators and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

Stating that the creation of a Deputy Chief Minister’s post will help the government, he noted that the former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna and Mr Siddaramaiah himself were Deputy Chief Ministers.
