P3SAGARSHIVAMOGGA: The father of the 14-year-old girl, who died under mysterious circumstances a week ago, on Wednesday said that he did not give the police, the keys to his shop because he did not want to give them any opportunity to plant evidence.

“A constable, who came to our house looking for my daughter’s schoolbag, also asked for the keys to my shop. But I was scared that the cops may plant some evidence in my shop and try to frame cases against me. So I did not give keys to the constable,” he said.

He countered the statement by Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Rathnakar that he had stopped the police from searching his home and petty shop. “I have cooperated fully with the police till now. The statement by the Minister (Mr Rathnakar) that I have not allowed the police to search my home and petty shop is far from the truth.”

Police trying to botch up case?
Even a week after the mysterious death of the 14-year-old girl in Tirthahalli, the police have not arrested a single suspect.

A police officer, on condition of anonymity, told Deccan Chronicle that the police are on a mission to deliberate botch-up the operation.

“One of the culprits is a close relative of a big businessman who funded the Congress election campaign in the district. The police are trying to give a new twist to the case. No one is sure whether the truth will come out at all,” he said, in a chilling admission.

The police, meanwhile, have sent the “death note” allegedly left behind by the girl and suddenly discovered by the police in her bag, for forensic tests. Further action will be taken based on the forensic report, they said.

The residents of Malnad town are demanding justice and suspect the hand of influential people in diluting the investigation.
