Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “enthralled India” and wowed world leaders. Now, he has a new fan: Philip Kotler, one of the world’s foremost marketing gurus.
Giving the thumbs up to Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, Kotler — in Bengaluru to conduct a workshop — said it was an impressive way to market India to multi-nationals. “I’m very high on him, everyone is. Modi is a breath of fresh air,” hastening to add, “But Modi has to do more than just inviting MNCs to come…he has to ensure the right climate”.
Kotler is also impressed with how Modi has transformed his own image. Asked if it was all just good marketing, Kotler, who wants to add Ratan Tata to his list of heroes – thanks to how Tata thought about the Nano car, said, Modi was able to transform his image not because of marketing but because of “a set of values he has and which India needs”.
