Bengaluru: The police arrested a youth on Thursday for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in M Hosahalli under Bagalur police limits on November 16.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Vasanth, a labourer and neighbour of the victim. On Sunday evening, he noticed the girl playing in front of her house, lured her into his house on the pretext of offering chocolates and raped her.
The victim did not reveal this to anyone and the incident only came to light on Wednesday, when her schoolteacher noticed that she was sick. The teacher informed her parents and she was taken home, the police said.
Upon medical examination doctors confirmed that the girl was sexually abused, said police.
A senior police officer said, “Only when the parents questioned the girl, she revealed the incident. They approached the Bagalur police station on Wednesday and lodged a complaint. The accused was arrested on Thursday.”
The accused has been booked under the Pocso Act.
Paedophile nabbed
In yet another case of sexual assault on a minor, the police have nabbed a 52-year-old man on Friday for reportedly attempting to rape a five-year-old girl on Wednesday
Police have identified the accused as Rajanna, 52, who fled after trying to rape the minor girl, who was his neighbour in Chikkabidarakallu. The police tracked him down and arrested him from Nelamanagala.
The girl cried for help when Rajanna took her into his house and undressed her. This alarmed neighbours, who went and checked only to find the girl naked. They caught hold of Rajanna and thrashed him, but he managed to flee the spot.
