Mysore, May 21: The State government, which is set to distribute 30 kg of rice (at Re one per kg) to below poverty line (BPL) card holders in the State from June 1, plans to distribute rice at a cheaper rate to middle class families possessing above poverty line (APL) cards.
Speaking to media after participating in the Anti-terrorism Day programme at the Congress office – observed every year on May 21 – Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that APL card holders too are already getting rice. The government will think over increasing the quantity of rice distributed for such card holders at a lesser price between Rs eight and nine per kg.
