Bangalore; The former Director-General and Inspector-General of Police Shankar Bidari, writer and educationist K.E. Radhakrishna, and owner of a private hospital Jayanna were admitted into the party on Monday by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara.
Though Mr. Bidari was received by the All-India Congress Committee General Secretary Oscar Fernandes at the party office in New Delhi recently, he was officially admitted into the party here. Mr. Bidari said he was in government service for 42 years and would utilise the experience to serve the people.
‘Won’t seek position’
The former DGP said he would not seek any position in the Congress and that the party knew how to utilise the services of its cadre.
While Mr. Bidari may be fielded from an Assembly constituency in north Karnataka, where he is likely to get support of the Lingayat community to which he belongs, Prof. Radhakrishna is reportedly trying for ticket from one of the Assembly constituencies in the city.
