Five arrestedBangalore, Aug 11, 2013: The West Division police have solved the murder of a career criminal, Giri alias Circle Giri, within hours of the killing and have arrested five men for the crime.

Giri was hacked to death by a group of men near the Airavatha Hotel on Mysore Road on Saturday evening.

Chandru of K G Nagar, Madhusudhan of Kadirenahalli, Srikanth and Madan of Srinagar and Manja (alias Perra) of Byatarayanapura are the arrested.

Police investigations have revealed that all the five men were Giri’s friends and that their relations had soured recently. One cause of friction was Chandru’s formation of a new gang following a bitter argument with Giri.

The other four men, while pretending to be loyal to Giri, apparently maintained links with Chandru — irking Giri. Another point of contention was Giri’s teasing of Srikanth’s younger sister. When Srikanth objected, Giri allegedly threatened to throw acid on her face. Enraged, the gang had decided to join Chandru to eliminate Giri. Srikanth was arrested by Kengeri police, hours after the incident. The rest were arrested from Kyatasandra in Tumkur district in the wee hours of Sunday when they were trying to flee.
