Mandya, August 24: The Mandya and Ramanagaram district administrations have made all arrangements for Saturday’s counting of votes in the byelections to the Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituencies.
Counting of votes for Bangalore Rural seat will be held at the Government Engineering College in Ramanagaram, while counting for Mandya constituency will be taken up at the Government College for Boys (Autonomous) in Mandya.
Byelections to the two constituencies were held on Wednesday.
Mandya segment
All arrangements have been made for monitoring counting, Mandya Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer B.N. Krishnaiah told presspersons here on Friday.
The district administration has set up 119 tables for counting besides deploying 16 Assistant Election Officers, 119 Counting Supervisors, 135 Counting Micro Observers, 119 Counting Assistants, 20 Technical Staffs and 400 other officials for the purpose.
“We are taking all steps to ensure fair and peaceful counting,” Mr. Krishnaiah said.
Mandya Superintendent of Police Borase Bhushan Gulabrao said that the district police have made elaborate security arrangements.
Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer P.C. Jayanna, District Information Officer R. Raju, Additional Superintendent of Police M. Puttamadappa and Deputy Superintendent of Police Shobharani were present.
Bangalore Rural
The Ramanagaram district administration has deployed 800 personnel for counting.
The district administration has barred counting agents from carrying mobile phones, cameras and other electronic gadgets into the counting centres.
Only those who are engaged in the counting process will be allowed to use mobile phones.
Entry will be allowed to those who have been issued passes by the District Election Officers.
