BANGALORE, October 19: Having made quick strides in capturing the morning reading habit of many and successfully ‘Bringing Bangalore back to you’ in a couple of months, The Hindu celebrated its new status as one of the city’s most-read newspapers in style.
The movers and shakers of the State, which included the who’s who from the bureaucracy, politics and glitterati, turned up for the celebrations organised by The Hindu here on Friday evening to celebrate the success of the new look of ‘India’s national newspaper’.
Among those who made it to the star-studded event were Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of State for Agriculture C. Krishna Byre Gowda, Jnanpith award winner U.R. Ananthamurthy, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner M. Lakshminarayan, Mayor B.S. Sathyanarayana, the former CFO and HR Head of Infosys T.V. Mohandas Pai, City Police Commissioner Raghavendra H. Auradkar, and Additional Commissioner of Police Pronab Mohanty.
While danseuses Vani Ganapathy and Madhu Nataraj, and actors Arun Sagar and Chetan added a dash of glamour to the event, music performances added colour to the creative décor — all of which was made out of, what else, newspapers.
Arts connoisseur Chandra Jain, founder of non-governmental organisation Kadambari, author Anitha Nair, wildlife photographer Amoghavarsha, RJ Danish Sait and para-athlete Malathy K. Holla were among the other celebrities who made it to the event.
