BANGALORE, October 24: Hundreds of BJP workers and leaders, including the former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and State unit head Pralhad Joshi, took out a rally in the city on Wednesday seeking resignation of Information and Infrastructure Minister Santhosh Lad over his alleged role in the mining scam.
The protest rally from Freedom Park towards the Chief Minister’s residence caused traffic snarls around the main thoroughfares near Freedom Park.
Circulating copies of the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, BJP leaders, including the former BJP State president K.S. Eshwarappa and the former Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok, urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Mr. Lad. The memorandum pointed out that serious doubts persist about the continuance of Mr. Lad in the Cabinet.
“The protesters were stopped at the race course junction to prevent them from proceeding towards the Chief Minister’s residence,” Additional Commissioner of Police ( Law and Order) Kamal Panth said.
