15 lakh houses to be built in Karnataka: Ambareesh

Mandya, November 6:  The State government has decided to construct 15 lakh houses under various schemes at a cost of Rs. 20,000 crore, Housing Minister and Mandya district in charge M.H. Ambareesh said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the godown of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society (PACCS) at Thimmana Hosuru in the taluk on Tuesday.

Mr. Ambareesh said the department would also construct houses for slum-dwellers in Mandya.

Minister for Cooperation H.S. Mahadeva Prasad inaugurated the PACCS building at Mangala in the taluk on Tuesday.

‘Make use of scheme’

He requested eligible farmers to avail themselves of the benefits of the Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme.

The State government had planned to enrol at least 50 lakh people under the scheme.

The government would pay the enrolment fee for people belonging to SC, ST communities. Ramya, Mandya MP, announced that she would sanction Rs. 5 lakh to construct a community hall at Mangala village under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme.

Deputy Commissioner B.N. Krishnaiah, Superintendent of Police Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, and other officials were present at both functions.

Mandya: The Mandya Taluk Panchayat on Tuesday unanimously approved the list of beneficiaries for the Basava Vasati Yojane (housing scheme) for 2013–14.

Housing Minister and Mandya district in charge M.H. Ambareesh, who chaired the meeting, said that 465 beneficiaries had been selected.

Mr. Ambareesh requested the officials and panchayat members to identify land in the district to construct houses under various State and Central schemes.

Panchayat president Hemalatha was present.
