BELLARY, December 3: “We are still clueless about what happened to my son Ibrahim,” a distraught B. Giddu Sab, a retired employee of Sandur Manganese and Iron Ore, said from his residence in Yeshwant Nagar in Sandur taluk.
“My son is missing since November 25. We have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah through the Deputy Commissioner,” he said on Monday.
Ibrahim Sherief (36), Mr. Giddu Sab’s second son, had been working as Assistant Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, in Bhubaneshwar in Odisha since 2010. Ibrahim did a diploma course in mining before doing a BE in mining. He married recently.
Shocked
“We were shocked when my daughter-in-law Salma Parvin informed us that Ibrahim was missing. She said Ibrahim left to his office in the morning. When he [Ibrahim] did not turn up for lunch, she called him on his cellphone, which was switched off. Then she contacted the office only to be told that he had not come,” Mr. Giddu Sab said. Salma has lodged a police complaint in Odisha.
Ms. Giddu Sab left for Bhubaneshwar with his other sons Suban and Jeelan and Ibrahim’s in-laws soon after they were informed about the incident.
Ibrahim and his wife were in Yeshwantnagar during Bakrid and they returned to Odisha on November 19. Mr. Giddu Sab said he never shared any information about the nature of his work with his family. “We are not aware of the kind of problems he was facing while discharging his duties,” he said.
They have filed a complaint with Sandur police and met E. Tukaram, Sandur MLA.
