Shimoga mar, 30: Janata Dal (Secular) candidate for the Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency, Geetha Shivrajkumar, said her confidence level was increasing day by day following positive response from the people.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, she said she had campaigned in the Shimoga Rural Assembly constituency, Shikaripur, Baindoor and Theerthahalli for the past five days.

“I am glad that I am receiving positive response from the people. Women in particular have extended their support to me during campaigning across the district. Voters are sharing their problems with me. They are complaining about power cuts, poor roads, drinking water crisis. I am also aware of the ‘bagair hukum’ land cultivators’ woes in the district. I will find a permanent solution to these problems if I am elected. I hope the support that I receive during campaigning translates into votes. It’s evident that voters of the constituency want a change in the leadership and I would like to be the reason for the change.”

Geetha’s husband and actor Shivrajkumar said, “We are making an honest attempt for the victory of my wife in the Lok Sabha polls and the rest is left to God. I have listened to her public speeches over the phone. She is improving day by day. I can promise you that she is capable of becoming a good politician. She has a political heart and not mind. So, I appeal to voters to back her in the coming Lok Sabha polls and give her an opportunity to carry on the good works done by her father, the late Bangarappa.”
He said he has taken off from shooting for the Ugadi festival. He would campaign for his wife for a few days in the various Assembly constituencies across the district. Replying to a query, he said he had no plans to enter politics.

“Basically, I am an actor and I would like to remain an actor. Some of my friends from the film industry, including actor Prem, are likely to be part of the campaigning in future.”

Sorab MLA Madhu Bangarappa, JD(S) district president M Srikanth and Deputy Mayor Rekha Chandrashekhar were present.
