Bangalore: Senior leader and JD(S) State president A Krishnappa (68) passed away on Wednesday due to cardiac failure. He is survived by wife, two daughters and one son.
Krishnappa suffered a heart attack in the evening when he was playing badminton in his SEA college of Engineering at Basavanapura in K R Puram. He was relaxing in the badminton court around 6 pm when he suddenly complained of chest pain and collapsed. He was declared brought dead to K R Puram Super Speciality Hospital. He had blocked arteries, according to Dr Ravi who attended on him.
Family sources said the mortal remains of the leader will be kept at his Devasandra residence near K R Puram for people to pay homage.
Krishnappa, who hailed from Yadava community, held considerable sway among backward classes. He contested as the JD(S) candidate from Tumkur parliamentary constituency in the ongoing elections, and was confident of winning the seat.
A day after the polling, in an interaction with Deccan Herald, he had said that for him playing badminton is the best way of relaxing. He had said he never felt tired despite travelling not less than 80 to 160 km a day for canvassing.
