Rain throws traffic out of gear

Heavy rain lashed the city on Thursday evening throwing peak hour traffic out of gear.

There was flooding at Ashoknagar, Opera Junction, Dhobhighat Junction, Ulsoor, Vasanth Nagar, Indian Express Junction, Queens Statue Junction, Kino Theatre underpass, High Grounds Junction, Cantonment area, Mekhri Circle, K.R. Circle and other areas. Traffic snarls prevailed in Majestic area, Sheshadri Road, Subbayya Chatram Street, Sankey Road, Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar, International Airport Road. Traffic congestion was cleared hours after the rain stopped. The BBMP received complaints of tree fall in Koramangala 3rd Block, ITI Layout, Katriguppe and HBR Layout. B. Puttanna, Director, Meteorological Department, Bangalore, told The Hindu that the city received 16.2 mm of rain by Thursday evening.
