Special gadgets, high-powered suction machine being used
The district administration resumed the operation on Sunday to retrieve the body of six-year-old Timmanna Hatti from the open borewell. Special gadgets, high-powered suction machine, and air-compressors are being used in the operation.
“The operation has been resumed as per the advice of the Advocate-General. The body must be retrieved at least to perform the autopsy to ascertain the cause of death,” said S.R. Patil, district in-charge Minister. He was speaking to presspersons at the farm in Sulikeri village of Badami taluk.
The Minister said the Advocate-General had made it clear that if it was not possible to dig a parallel trench, machines should be used to retrieve the body. On Saturday, the district administration unanimously decided to stop the digging operation after experts raised some fears.
“Though digging was stopped, it was, however, decided to explore other means of recovering the body based on the Advocate-General’s suggestion. As per his advice, we have resumed the operation,” the Minister said.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that a decision has been taken to make use of the special gadgets designed by Manikandan of Tamil Nadu and Range Gowda of Chitradurga.
Curiously, the same gadgets had proved ineffective in retrieving the body despite several attempts.
