The alleged incident is believed to have taken place in Belgaum
A nine-year-old mentally challenged girl was sexually abused, according to a complaint filed with Malleswaram police.
The child is from Madanayakanahalli. She was admitted to Vishwa Vijetha Residential School for Mentally Challenged at Raibaugh in Belgaum about two months ago.
On August 9, the principal informed her parents that she was unwell. The parents admitted her to a hospital at Madanayakanahalli, but the child’s health showed no improvement. They then brought her to K.C. General Hospital here, where doctors, after examination, informed them that their daughter had been sexually abused.
Though it appears that she was sexually abused in Belgaum, a complaint was registered with Malleswaram police and later transferred to Raibaugh, the police said.
