Mangaluru, December 24: The procession of annual ‘Karavali Utsav’ was inaugurated here by Sadananda Suvarna veteran theater artiste on Tuesday December 23rd.
Colourful procession passed through Hampankatta, KS Rao Road, Navabharat Circle, PVS Circle, MG Road and culminated at Karavali Utsav Maidan.
The procession, comprised of over 73 professional troupes from across the state, included tiger dance, tableaux, Gombe Kunita, Duff, Yakshagana, Kolata, martial arts stunts, chande and much more, all of which represented the culture and essence of Tulunadu. There were also fire personnel and team representing India Post.
For the first time, the procession united Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy.
MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Mahbala Maarla, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, Zilla Panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni, Janaki Brahmavara-President of Tulu Academy, Roy Castelino-President of Konkani Academy, Deputy Mayor Kavitha and leaders of various organizations, and officers had participated in the procession.
